  • Cardiac Catheterization

When you need us most, we’re right here for you with five state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratories helping save lives every day. If you have an irregular heartbeat, there are two electrophysiology labs to diagnose and treat your condition. If you need a stress test, electrocardiography, or echocardiography to diagnose your heart condition, our experts in the noninvasive cardiology lab will explain the tests and next steps with uncommon compassion.

  • Cardiovascular Rehabilitation

When you’re recovering from a cardiac event or heart-related procedure, you need extra care and support. You need a specialized program of exercise and nutrition to help you recover quickly and stay as healthy as possible. At the Shimberg Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation Center, you’ll work with rehabilitation experts to make sure you’re safe as you progress toward fitness.

  • Chest Pain Emergency Room

If you or a loved one has heart attack symptoms, every second counts. Get the treatment you need, when you need it. Highly trained doctors and nurses are here for you twenty four hours a day, seven days a week to help with chest pain and other symptoms of heart attack.

  • Heart Rhythm Center

Does your heart flutter, race, or feel like it skips a beat? Irregular heartbeats are common. Many heart arrhythmias don’t cause problems, but some need treatment. Dedicated experts use the latest techniques to diagnose and treat heart arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, also called A-Fib.

  • Heart Valve Center

If you have a heart valve that doesn’t work properly, a repair or replacement might be the solution you need. Your team of physicians and technologists can tell you which procedures may be right for your personal circumstances. They’ll explain every detail clearly, so you feel informed and cared for every step of the way. That includes diagnostic imaging and treatments such as the latest minimally invasive, surgical and non-surgical heart health care.

  • Interventional Cardiology

If you’ve been told you have blockage to your heart, let us help. Some types of heart disease can improve with minimally invasive procedures to open blocked vessels in the heart and restore blood flow. Interventional cardiologists are specialists who perform life-saving procedures like these.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)

For people who have severe aortic stenosis (a narrowing of the heart’s aortic valve) and may not be candidates for open-heart surgery, groundbreaking procedures like TAVR offer a safer alternative.

AdventHealth surgeons and invasive cardiologists were some of the first in Florida to perform this less-invasive option, which is done through a small incision in the leg.

With advanced procedures like TAVR, we’re elevating our heart care and improving clinical outcomes that mean fewer complications, shorter hospital stays and faster recoveries for our patients.

WATCHMAN FLX™

The WATCHMAN FLX is a small device that’s implanted inside the left atrial appendage (small pouch in the top left heart chamber), closing off a part of the heart where blood clots most commonly form.

Implanting the FLX is a minimally invasive, one-time procedure that helps prevent blood clots, lowering your risk for stroke. The procedure is completed within an hour and patients commonly stay in the hospital overnight and leave the next day.

If you’re experiencing an irregular heartbeat and can’t tolerate blood thinners, the FLX could help. To see if this device could be right for you, click below to learn more or call our team today.

Micra™ Pacemaker

About the size of a vitamin capsule, Micra is the world’s smallest pacemaker, designed for patients with a slow heart rate. Unlike most pacemakers, Micra is leadless and implanted directly into the heart — all in one minimally invasive procedure with no chest incision needed.

Because Micra is self-contained within the heart, it eliminates possible medical complications arising from a chest incision and from the wires with conventional pacemakers. By using Micra, we’re able to help our patients get back to their regular activities without restrictions.

MitraClip™

Inserting the MitraClip device is a minimally invasive procedure for treating mitral valve regurgitation. During the procedure, the MitraClip device is implanted in your heart, connecting the areas of your mitral valve, significantly reducing the backflow of blood and decreasing your risk of heart failure. Your surgeon positions and repositions the device in real time to ensure you get the proper fit in just one procedure.

This breakthrough treatment option can improve your quality of life and lead you to whole-person recovery.

Heart-Felt Giving

In 1986, Tampa businessman Art “Pep” Pepin awaited a heart transplant. After Pep received his new heart in Texas from a 26-year-old donor, he and his family returned to Tampa and focused their philanthropic interest in making the most advanced heart care available right here at home. The founder of Pepin Distributing Company and a Tampa community leader for decades, Pep put his money where his heart was, as he and his son, Tom, pledged to help our hospital’s new cardiac program grow.

Over 35 years later, it has become one of the leading programs in the Tampa area. Today, the Pepin Heart Institute combines three decades of experience with leading-edge technology and procedures, with the expertise of the area's finest physicians to bring the best possible heart care to Tampa Bay.

You too can be a part of this legacy. Learn more about how you can support the Pepin Heart Institute and give with heart.
